The Garden, Summer 2008

The People’s Community Garden is a growing project for the whole community, located in Ipswich, Suffolk. We would like as many people as possible to get involved in creating, maintaining and enjoying this exciting outdoor learning resource.

The garden has areas for vegetable plots, a wildlife garden, an orchard, a herb circle and sensory garden, and a poly-tunnel for tender plants and propagation. Other facilities will include an undercover meeting space, skills teaching space, toilets and tool-washing facilities, and room to park your car or bike.

The garden is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.30am to 3.30pm (note: the garden is no longer open on Tuesdays).

We now have a "blog" - regular bulletins telling you about what's happening in the garden.

A leaflet about The People’s Community Garden is available to download (PDF, 1MB).

If you or your organisation/group would like to get involved in the garden, please Contact Us. You may work with a group that would benefit from the garden, or you may be able to volunteer on an individual basis or can support others who need a little extra help. Or your business may be able to raise a task force for a big project in the garden.

The project won a Big Lottery Fund People’s Millions award by popular vote in autumn 2007, which enabled the garden team to get started. But we need to continue to source grants and fundraise to enable the project to grow.

We would also like to hear from you if you could help with sponsorship, grants or fundraising. Perhaps you would like to sponsor a tree or a bench, or even a hedge. Or you may be able to fund materials to landscape a whole area of the garden.
