Schools
The People's Community Garden is an exciting outdoor learning resource which is available to schools.
We have a team of four professional staff, who have both horticultural and teaching qualifications, and who can facilitate a visit by your pupils on a one-off or regular basis.
The project is an ideal way to complement your work towards Healthy Schools or Eco-Schools status, and visits can be arranged to enhance curriculum learning in science, arts and humanities. We have already run arts projects with primary school children, and high school groups have helped develop the Wildlife Area and maintain an allotment plot for growing their own vegetables.
We have a lots of seed potatoes kindly donated by Ipswich Organic Gardeners Group, which we can offer free to schools in the South Ipswich Cluster. There are a number of varieties of first earlies, second earlies and maincrop – including organic varieties, and frost and blight resistant varieties.
We can also arrange to visit your school in order to help develop your grounds as a more stimulating and child-friendly environment.
